Since 2003, the Stratfield Clubhouse has offered a variety of programs encompassing Sports, Fitness and Recreation, The Arts and Life Skills, and Educational Development. Following in the tradition of the Southport Clubhouse, the Stratfield Clubhouse continues to provide quality programs for the “mental, moral and physical development of the young people of the community.” Many of the programs offered in Southport are offered at the Stratfield Clubhouse, allowing the Club to add to its efforts to deliver safe wholesome programs to more children in the community.
The Stratfield Clubhouse is open to all Wakeman members, focusing primarily on drop-in for 3rd-8th graders. Bus transportation is available from Holland Hill, Jennings, Stratfield, McKinley and North Stratfield Elementary Schools. Transportation is also available from Fairfield Woods Middle School since September 2011. Some opportunities also exist for 1st-2nd graders and 6th-8th graders to participate at the Club. The Clubhouse provides the Torch Club youth service group for 7th-8th graders and numerous volunteer opportunities for high school students. More information is available from Club staff and at www.wakemanclub.com.
BUS TRANSPORTATION - Guidelines for Stratfield Clubhouse Only
AFTERNOON STRUCTURE
3rd-8th Graders (Full members) - In September 2010, the Stratfield Clubhouse introduced a new after school program schedule. Each day, 3rd-5th grade members participate in a variety of activities with other members of the same grade through a rotating block schedule. Members choose one of two activities during each 30 minute time period. Members also have two opportunities to do homework each day. By following a scheduled format of activity periods, members experience a variety of activities; make friends more easily, and feel comfortable, safe, challenged and engaged with other members of the same grade. A dedicated Teen Lounge was created in September 2011 for 6th-8th graders. Middle school students have exclusive use of this room outfitted with comfortable chairs, desk and Wii connected TV. Middle school students also have choice of another program area when Club is open.
After School Program (ASP) Fees (3rd-8th Graders):
$180 Annual ASP fee per member. $150 fee per second/third member of same family.
$90 Half Year ASP fee per member registering after February 17th ($75 per additional member in family)
ASP fee is required of all bus riders. Members who do not ride bus to Club may choose to pay annual ASP fee or $5 daily fee each visit.
The ASP fee is in addition to annual $70 Wakeman membership fee. All memberships expire in August of each year.
1st-2nd Graders (Mini Members) - Mini Members have opportunities to participate in occasional structured programs during the year, including all vacation days and special programming. On days off from school, the Club is open for all members from 8:45-5:30. 1st-2nd graders can come for any length of time for a $25 fee. Additional information about 1st-2nd grade programs is available from Club staff as programs are announced during the year.
