AOL USERS - Please hit "REFRESH" on your browser to get the latest info! The goal of our basketball leagues is to provide a friendly atmosphere, in which volunteer coaches work with small teams of boys or girls. These teams, which consist of players with different skill levels, are taught the basics of basketball as well as sportsmanship, while having fun and making new friends. Preparation for the 2008/2009 season is based on numbers from the 2007/2008 season. Details listed below may change slightly. Basketball is one of the more popular programs offered at Wakeman. Due to this popular demand, a mail-in registration process is used to register for the Pee Wee and Junior Leagues. Please make sure your child can commit to the entire program before registering. (Please carefully read all the registration guidelines.) |

Wakeman Boys & Girls Travel Teams CANDIDATES MUST BE WAKEMAN
MEMBERS FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR PRIOR
TO TRYING OUT FOR TEAM. We are assembling the team to give our loyal members a chance to experience something more in terms of basketball and cultural enrichment. Our clubhouse has much to offer besides just basketball and we are looking to enhance the opportunities of the young men and women who are not only playing basketball here, but interacting with our staff on a regular basis and taking advantage of the many other programs we offer. There will be a short parents meeting prior to the try-outs in October and we ask that at least one parent be present for this meeting. There will be many factors considered when determining the 12 players selected for this opportunity. Ability will be a factor, but certainly not the only factor in deciding who is going to represent Wakeman Boys & Girls Club. OFFICIAL TRY-OUT DATES AND TIMES WILL BE AVAILABLE IN SEPTEMBER. CANDIDATES CAN SIGN-UP FOR TRY-OUTS BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 12TH. |

SPONSORS NEEDED !Sponsorship of Wakeman teams and leagues is a great inexpensive way to advertise your business while also helping to fund Wakeman’s extensive program offerings. When a business sponsors a team or league, the name of that business is screened onto the shirts of all team members. Typically that means 10-12 children per team wearing your name on their backs for eight straight weekends at the club (not to mention all around town throughout the year). Hundreds of community members will begin to recognize your business as a proud sponsor of Wakeman youth athletic and educational programs! You can sponsor the team of your own child, a neighbor, or our choice. Whether it is a 3rd grade pee wee team, high school spring basketball team, or entire lacrosse league, we have just the right shirt for your business. In addition, your business name will be posted on our Sponsor Board in the Warren Gym and you will receive a team photo/plaque to display in your place of business!
Want to help in a different way? Wakeman is always looking for sponsors of tournaments and special events. If your business offers a product or service that may be beneficial to Wakeman, let us know! For more information contact Rich at the club. We’d love to hear from you!
