The Stratfield Clubhouse has a room dedicated
to homework supervised daily by staff and volunteers.
Members are welcome to bring homework or projects to the Club to work on by
themselves, in small groups or with help from staff. Please note that although
staff are present to assist children, it is still their responsibility to go to
Homework Lab, and ask for help. Staff are not responsible for completion
of homework assignments. If your child has specific needs for homework
help, we are happy to try to accommodate those needs. Please see Program
Director Jenn Frederick, or contact her at 374-1108 or
jenn@wakemanclub.com.
There is no registration for the homework lab – just show up!

HOLIDAY/SCHOOL EARLY DISMISSAL SCHEDULE
Due to holidays, early dismissals or Church events, Club hours will be affected on days below:
Any boy or girl between 1st-12th grade, regardless of age
and town of residency may join Wakeman Boys & Girls
Club’s Stratfield Unit. Your child is entitled to attend programs at both the
Southport and Stratfield Clubhouses.
Membership forms can be obtained at the Southport Clubhouse weekdays 9am-9pm and
weekends 12-6pm or at the
Stratfield Clubhouse weekdays 10am-6:30pm. Club hours may vary slightly based on
seasonal programs and vacations.
Please note that 9th-12th graders have restricted hours at the Stratfield Unit.
*If visiting the Stratfield Unit before
3:00pm, please make sure to call first in order to ensure that our office is
open.
3rd-12th graders: 3rd-12th graders are Full Members. Membership is $65 per child
per program year (September
1st - August 31st) with a ceiling of $150 per family of 3 or more children. Your
child must be a member of Wakeman in
order to participate in any Club programs, activities and Open Gym Drop-in.
Membership cards: Distributed to all Club members and will be required to
scan-in upon arrival at both Clubs.
1st-2nd graders: 1st-2nd graders are Mini Members.
Mini-Membership entitles any boy or girl in 1st-2nd grade (regardless of age) to
participate in age appropriate programs/activities such as specialized classes
and vacation mini camps. The membership fee for a mini member is $25 for the
program year (September 1st-August 31st). Mini members are not eligible to
participate in the open gym drop-in. Membership
cards will be distributed to all participants. Kindergartners, including
children who have been held back a year, are not allowed to participate in any Wakeman programs.
Members may bring a guest to the Club for a $5 fee. A child can only be a guest at the Club once, regardless of who their host is. If a guest would like to attend the Club a second time, they are expected to become a full member. Guests may participate in Open Gym drop-in, but may not register for programs or events unless noted in registration information for that program. A parent of either the guest or host member must accompany the guest to the Club to complete a one day guest membership.
AFinancial Aid: Wakeman Boys & Girls Club believes all children are entitled to be members and participate in our programs, regardless of their family’s ability to pay fees. The Club works very hard to keep fees low, and relies on families for membership and program fees. However, we realize that is not always possible. Financial Aid is available or membership and programs. Please see a Director for more information and a Scholarship Application. Financial Aid request forms are available at both the Stratfield and Southport Clubhouses or by clicking here.

IMPORTANT PARKING LOT INFORMATION
The First Presbyterian Church is home to many different groups throughout the day and evening. This makes the parking lot and driveways a very busy place.
It is absolutely necessary that all Wakeman parents and visitors obey traffic signs in the parking lot for the One Way traffic pattern around building. Parents should also pull into a marked parking space when dropping/picking up children and maintain a speed less than 5 miles an hour at all times.
Wakeman staff and all other groups using Church have been advised repeatedly of this policy and share in the frustration of Church staff in convincing all visitors to follow. Please remember and remind all others to follow proper parking lot etiquette for the safety of your children and all other visitors to the Church.
HONEST
The most important
value and you all know what it means.
But are you strong enough to live without lying or cheating? Wakeman thinks you
are.
SENSITIVE TO THE FEELINGS OF OTHERS
Wakeman is a place
where everyone should feel comfortable and included.
If someone is not playing, ask him or her to join your game. No one is good at
everything.
Do not make anyone feel bad about themselves. Wakeman wants its members to be
strong and confident.
WILLING TO HELP
Wakeman is proud of our members and their willingness to volunteer
and donate to those less fortunate.
Let’s not lose that attitude with each other.
If another Wakeman member needs help consider it your duty to see to their
needs.
SPORTSMEN AND SPORTSWOMEN
When the other
team wins by two or twenty, do not pout or act mad.
Celebrate the fact that you are part of the game and run over to congratulate
the winners.
The same goes for you when you win a game. Remember what it feels like to
lose.
Your opponents are feeling that way right now
TRUSTWORTHY
If you say you are
going to do something, make sure it gets done.
And if you are asked not to do something, don’t do it.
PATIENT
Relax and give
things time. The staff at Wakeman is here to serve you.
If they are asking you to wait you can be sure it is for a good reason.
WILLING TO TRY NEW THINGS
The only way you are going to learn is to try.
RESPECTFUL
Of Yourself, Of Your Family, Of others, Of Your Club.
WAKEMAN RULES
Everyone who
comes to Wakeman wants to have fun.
We ask everyone to follow these simple rules to ensure everyone has fun and help
keep the Club safe.
Walk unless you are in a
gym.
Have fun. Play Fair. Be nice to everyone.
If someone is watching, invite them to play with you.
If you see equipment or garbage, put it where it belongs.
Resolve disagreements nonviolently and if you need help, find staff.
Please leave hats, phones,
video games, wallets, jewelry and watches at home.
If you must bring valuables, leave them
in your backpack or with staff member in office.
However, Wakeman cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen or broken property!
