Stratfield Clubhouse
At First Presbyterian Church – 2475 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield 06825
In the fall of 2003, Wakeman Boys & Girls Club spread its wings to serve even more youth in the community. In recent years, the increase in programs and membership growth stretched the Center Street site in Southport to its limits. In response to the needs of the community, Wakeman offers a variety of programs encompassing Sports, Fitness and Recreation, The Arts and Life Skills, and Educational Development at our Stratfield Clubhouse located at First Presbyterian Church.
Following in the tradition of the Center Street site, Wakeman continues to provide quality programs for the “mental, moral and physical development of the young people of the community.” Many of the programs offered in Southport are offered at the Stratfield Clubhouse, allowing the Club to add to its efforts to deliver safe wholesome programs to more children in the community.
The Stratfield Clubhouse is open to all Wakeman members, focusing primarily on drop in for 3rd-5th graders. Bus transportation is available from Jennings, Stratfield, North Stratfield and McKinley Schools. Some opportunities also exist for 1st-2nd graders and 6th-8th graders to participate at the Club. The Torch Club (youth service group) is also available to members in 7th-8th grade and numerous volunteer opportunities for high school students.
NEW AFTERNOON STRUCTURE
3rd-5th Graders (Full members) - The Stratfield Clubhouse will introduce a new after school program schedule beginning in September 2010. Each day, members in 3rd-5th grade will participate in a variety of activities and programs with other members in the same grade through a rotating block schedule. Members will choose one of two activities during each 30 minute time period. Members will also have two opportunities to complete their homework each day. By following a scheduled format, members will experience a variety of activities, make friends more easily, feel comfortable & safe, challenged and engaged with other members of the same grade. Afternoons will be structured and fun, where kids will learn new games and skills, and most important...HAVE FUN!
1st-2nd Graders (Mini Members) - After school program will be available 3:45pm-6:15pm on select days of the week. Participants register on a monthly basis.
