Stratfield Clubhouse

At First Presbyterian Church – 2475 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield  06825

In the fall of 2003, Wakeman Boys & Girls Club spread its wings to serve even more youth in the community. In recent years, the increase in programs and membership growth stretched the Center Street site in Southport to its limits. In response to the needs of the community, Wakeman offers a variety of programs encompassing Sports, Fitness and Recreation, The Arts and Life Skills, and Educational Development at our Stratfield Clubhouse located at First Presbyterian Church.

Following in the tradition of the Center Street site, Wakeman continues to provide quality programs for the “mental, moral and physical development of the young people of the community.” Many of the programs offered in Southport are offered at the Stratfield Clubhouse, allowing the Club to add to its efforts to deliver safe wholesome programs to more children in the community.

Last year over 400 children participated in programs at the Stratfield Clubhouse. Program offerings include Munchkin Madness, Curious Cooks, Photography, Pancake Breakfasts, Pasta Nights, Bingo Days, Open Gym and more! The Stratfield Clubhouse also offers Torch Club for 7th-8th graders and FAST (Freshmen As Staff Trainees) for 9th graders, along with various volunteer opportunities for high school students. Any child in 1st-8th grade can be a member and utilize the facility. Membership can be obtained at the Southport Clubhouse or at the Stratfield Clubhouse during posted hours. Membership entitles children to participate in programs at both Clubhouses and is open to any member of the community. Bus transportation is available for 3rd-5th graders from Jennings, Stratfield, McKinley and North Stratfield Schools to the Clubhouse! Registration for the bus must be done directly through Wakeman.

Stratfield Clubhouse programs, classes, mini camps and special activities are held throughout the school year. The Southport Clubhouse schedule of programs is taken into consideration when scheduling Stratfield Clubhouse programs. Check out the Stratfield Clubhouse program book to see what’s going on! Information is available on the website (click Stratfield Unit/McKinley Outreach) or by calling 374-1108 during the school year, or 259-4805 during summer.

If your child does not take advantage of all the Stratfield Unit has to offer, consider this:
• Your child may be waitlisted for a Southport program that is also held at Stratfield Clubhouse.
• Your child may have a conflict with a Southport program, but may be available for the same or similar program held on a different day/time at the Stratfield Clubhouse.
• Mini Camps for 1st-2nd graders take place at the Stratfield Clubhouse most days off from school.
• The Stratfield Clubhouse opens at 1:30 on all regularly scheduled half days of school.
• Open gym space may be available at the Stratfield Clubhouse when Southport gym is closed for basketball practices or classes.
• Programs such as Cooking Class and Pasta Night Dinners are only held at Stratfield Clubhouse.
• On days off from school, Stratfield Clubhouse opens at 9:00am for Open Gym and programs.
